In today’s class, Avery worked through a focused and fun session beginning with our warmups. She first wanted to work on 6 Feet Under by Billie Eilish. We asked her to sing with the singer, then lip trilling through the song to build pitch accuracy before singing it again. We took her through excercises: Twinkle Little Star, I Love You Truly, and Singing Is Great, focusing on incorporating a lighter cry mix and repeating selections to reinforce healthy tone. Avery explored playful articulation with Bibbidi-Bobbidi-Boo and practiced connection by singing on “la,” followed by a karaoke-style run-through. We then moved onto My Boy by Billie Elilish. We asked her to sing with the singer and experiment with vowel shapes by singing on “oh.” The class continued with expressive exercises and repertoire including I Want It Now, using call-and-response phrases (“ohh, ohh, ohh,” “wow, wow, wow, hey”) and singing on “nah” to improve flexibility and confidence. We wrapped up the session by singing the song once more and finished with a gentle vocal fry cooldown to relax the voice and support vocal health. We revisited “I Love You Truly” and “Singing Is Great,” focusing on tone clarity and confident projection, and then sang the song again to reinforce those improvements. Leila also worked on “I Had an Apple Today” and “I Want It Now,” paying close attention to articulation and steady airflow. She practiced singing the song on “La” to build connection and consistency throughout her range. We ended class with a gentle vocal fry cool down to relax the voice after a productive session. She then worked on her original song, Changes, singing it through before lip trilling the entire song to strengthen breath support and pitch control. After that, she sang it again with more confidence and connection, reminding herself that singing is great and leaning into that positive mindset. Next, she moved to Little Queen by Heart, singing through the song and working expressive moments like the “oh oh oh” and “I want it now” sections. She practiced singing parts on a “Na” for vocal clarity and stood up to sing, improving projection and stage presence. Sophia also worked on You Don’t Own Me by Lesley Gore, singing along with the original artist to lock in phrasing and style. She repeated sections with the singer, emphasizing fun ad-libs like “wow wow hey” and the bold line “get out, get out of my way.” She then sang parts on a “nay” for stronger placement before performing with the lyrics and getting dramatic in the chorus.
